Project overview

St Mark’s College is a private Catholic day and boarding school catering to students from Reception to Year 12.

Ballestrin was awarded the contract to complete the new base floor slab extension for the St Mark’s College Workshop Extension Project. Works consisted of the construction of a 120mm thick SM22 reinforced concrete raft slab with burnished finish to facilitate the extension of the existing workshop. The slab was constructed over two separate mobilisations and in three separate sections adjacent to the existing workshop.

Works were programmed to suit the school calendar with the pours scheduled to take place during school holidays. However, due to unforeseeable issues the school were unable to provide access for the second pour, which had to be undertaken during school time. During the second mobilisation, Ballestrin worked closely with school staff to maintain safe access and egress for staff during construction and to maintain a safe environment for school pupils.

The works were delivered successfully with zero incidents and achieved all quality assurance requirements.
