Port of Brisbane Crane Rail Replacement
Project overview
The Port of Brisbane, located at the mouth of the Brisbane River, is one of Australia’s fastest growing container ports, and Queensland’s largest multi-cargo port. Port of Brisbane handles approximately $50 billion worth of international cargo each year.
Ballestrin were engaged by McMahon Services Australia Pty Ltd through the Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd to replacement 300m of 86kg/m crane rail in an operational port facility with constrained access to site. Works were undertaken in discrete sections requiring a six-and-a-half day by 24-hour shutdown period. Works included service identification and protection, hydro-demolition and the coordination and supply of rail and rail plate.
As an international port, all personnel had to meet Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) requirements.
